Carnations have a bad rap. For a long time they've been known as the flower of the 80's, or the flower you get for your school play when your mom can't afford to buy a rose. Well, move over roses - carnations are coming back in a big way! When done right, a carnation can have a dramatic effect on an arrangement. They are perfect for flower balls and when bunched tightly together, deceive the eye into thinking it is a different flower all together.

family reunion.

This weekend my family had a reunion in Texas and my mother asked me to put together some arrangements for her centerpieces. All of the containers are heirlooms that once belonged to my Great-Grandmother Dora. The colors are bright and fun and really brought this pieces to life!

You can really turn any container you have around the house into a vase! Whether it's a tea cup, a mason jar, an old fish bowl, or even a Dickey's BBQ cup - you can make it work! Flowers are pretty enough to carry the weight of beauty all on their own.
